Conscious Living

Awakenings

March 30, 2023

~for my daughter~

Spring dances in, twirling across the sky with her partner the wind, gently kissing the earth and the newly sprouted tree buds to wake up all that is cozy and warm from a long slumber. All things that look as though they are brown and jagged with no life left in them are but only resting, awaiting to transform once they feel the gentle tap on earth’s door to lovingly say It’s time to awaken.  A soft, comforting whisper flows on the notes of a beautiful melody enchanting the realms as spring waves her wand with proclamation…”it is a new season.”

Just as a mother cradles her child with unconditional love, Mother Earth sits with kind eyes and reaches out her loving hand to say “Open your eyes, I am here for you.  What did you learn as you rested and reflected on how you lived in the world last season?”

The earth starts to wipe sleep from its eyes as the question absorbs ever so slight tingles into its being. Their answers are being put together like pieces to a puzzle with the warmth of the sun, locking in each piece with flares of golden champagne bubbles of light that sparkle with remembrance, reflection and wisdom to behold while waking up.  They know there is safety in the warmth of the light, and it is time again to choose to bring forth life. It is time to choose how they want to be in the world.

We are no different.

We wrap ourselves in a blanket on a cold day for us to feel safe and warm, bundled, nestling into the safety of our thoughts looking out the window of our life to contemplate what it is that makes us grow.  We have pieces of our own puzzles to reflect upon.  Some pieces are more jagged, with moments and memories that cut deep with the sharpness of broken glass filled with enormous pain and sadness.  Some pieces are softer and more rounded filled with comfort, joy, and happiness.  So many pieces inside the frame of our being that make us who we are, creating a picture with each choice we make and the journey they take us on.  How do we wake up from our slumber and reflect on the life we have lived?

Do we become a different color flower?

Do we grow a little differently?

Do we want to continue to be the same flower?

There is purpose in resting, solitude, silence before the Spring awakening.  The earth quiets, slows down and rests to have the moments to just BE. It is a season for reflection within,  to be still enough to listen and reflect.  A beautiful lesson to embrace.

We get to choose to hear our thoughts.

We get to choose to feel our feelings.

We get to choose to reflect on our experiences.

We get to choose to BE different if we want to.

I have learned a lot from being with nature and listening to the wisdom of its teachings.   Each season is purposeful and I get to choose what lessons and wisdom I want to carry on my journey.  I’ve learned that living what my truth is takes courage and kindness every day.  Especially kind to yourself on the days that courage didn’t win the race.  But guess what?  That is what the next moment and the next day are for.  To keep making the choices you want to make to be the you YOU want to be, without apologizing for it or being scared to be it.  And that means life will be heartbreaking, joyful, and a whole bucket full of emotions at any time.

~I can hold my daughter in my arms but I cannot make her feel loved.

~I can love her but I cannot stop her heart from breaking.

~I can listen to her but cannot choose for her.

~I can be her safe space and her lighthouse full of warmth and unconditional love to find refuge in.

These are the melodies that I am learning in this Spring awakening and will be whispering from my heart to hers.  To be steadfast in my truth so that by my actions, when she is faced with contemplation and choices in her life, she believes and has the courage and kindness to know she always has a choice who she wants to be in the world and to live in her truth.

To know without a doubt that whoever and whatever that is…she is loved, always.
