So…you want to get to know Scotch a little better. No need to be intimidated as you look at the wall of choices or as COVID-19 may have us shopping right now, at the online pages of choices with price points that are anywhere from I may only have to eat ramen noodles for a couple days to…I think I may be eating ramen noodles for the next month to even buy this bottle! And then what happens if I don’t like it? Well…let me tell you I’ve been there, done that and will continue to do that because that’s part of the adventure. I haven’t eaten ramen noodles yet…or I should say because I bought a bottle of scotch. I actually really like ramen noodles but I would consider supplementing my mostly organic daily intake if necessary! You see buying the bottle isn’t a risk at all and I don’t look at it as throwing money away. I am investing my money to have an experience in an adventure in living my best, most passionate life. This is about no regrets and choosing to act on the things that make you happy.
I have yet to find a large selection of mini bottles on the shelves or stores that have open bottles to offer samples. So, a suggestion for a super fun night out is to go to a Whisky Bar if you have one within your comfort zone of driving distance (with a designated driver of course) or Uber. Heck, go treat yourself to an overnight stay with or without someone and enjoy the whiskey and soak up some local culture! You could try several different kinds to sample to know what you may or may not like and potentially meet some great local people.
If you have been picking up a bottle here and there, see how many you have tried on the map. If you want to focus in on a region and try one a month or every couple months, the possibilities are endless for exploration and you can go at your pace. The point is to start…make it fun!
So, get creative and use the map to get to know your way around the land and regions. Get familiar with where the Scotch is coming from and learn about the distillery and people that pour their heart and soul into the craft that allows you to raise a dram.
What are some that I have tried off this map? Here Goes…and Slainte Mhath!
